Yes.
Beauty and Value, aesthetic and truth are two aspects of one thing, one system (of consciousness). Attraction and repulsion, values-pushing or pulling, love or disgust, joy or pain. We love that in which we find a mirror of our highest aspirations, for we aspire toward whatever calms our restless and furtive souls rather in reflection, emotional catharsis or bodily action.
Stages of sublimation of soul-restlessness and dissonance:
1) Bodily action; physical effort, friction, heat, orgasm.
2) Emotional catharsis; pain, pleasure, love, disgust, fear, desire, regret, turmoils in the heart.
3) Mental reflection; ideation, cognitive effort, system-building or tearing down ideal structures.
So we can see that this process moves from less to more language-based. Action is largely beyond language, rather seated among automatic instincts, "dumb" animalism, while emotion is language mediating instinct with action, self, or subjectivity-perspective. Lastly we have ideation, cognition, and "pure" language itself, grammar and maths, logic, abstraction and imagination. Writing and art forms span the whole process, as does philosophy. Getting stuck with too much excess on one level can be remedied by moving it toward another level of expression.
Sexual attraction is what we find desirable/stimulating based on our imagination giving us a picture of what is possible with another person. We want to find a way to satisfy each of the stages of possible sublimation, preferably all at once. Sex is the only way to really get it all at once, at a high level. Philosophy will neglect the body to some degree, art will neglect the body and perhaps the mind to some degree, and while sex may neglect the mind to some degree and perhaps emotions too, our sexual partners will be chosen based on attractiveness given the degree to which they give us, in potentia, the exact match for what we (think we) need in order to fully satisfy these stages. Evolution has only given us the basic set-up for reactive-imagining consciousness. When we created language and logic we fucked with this evolution irreparably, but you are still right, our passion does coincide with our values.
Where these seem to dis-align is due to a diffusion of our awareness either on the end of our desire or on the end of our understanding of our own values, or both.
