Love is the vantage point in another person from which one is proud to have come to be.

In the final instance, I have only found philosophy to reward my suffering with theretofore unimagined... What? Good shit. That the answer to the world, in the final instance, is "yes." Not the answer to ME. To the WORLD.

Yes. The image of ideal self in the other, a means to higher states of feeling and catharsis. The seeming contradiction of tremendous novelty potential, instinctual apotheosis and "worship"/understanding all coming together in another person. Pretty cool.

So then love is a form of reflection of the self? Unless I have misunderstood.

But wouldn't that then be a form of self-love and admiration?

You did misunderstand here. Look higher. Love gives the lover the chance to see him/herself in a new height. All true love inspires the lover to be greater than he thought, or dared to think that he was. This is also why it is so devastating to lose a love - one falls back to an uninspired, unmagical self-image. Then begins the work to find out what was real and what wasn't, this usually takes as long as the love affair itself.

True love and beauty are formed from the recognition of the abstract components of the resolution of one's own needs embodied in another. It is the consciousness, remote recognition, of one's own hopes, desires, and needs. The focus and attention given to the resolution embodied in the other removes the fear response to over protect oneself. True love is giving oneself over to the resolution of one's own needs. Acknowledging beauty is a part of that process.

A) Love = "I seriously need more in my life of what you are."
B) Hate = "I seriously need less in my life of what you are."
C) Wisdom = obtaining A without causing more of B.

To love another is to love oneself even more... as long as one's perception is accurate. Thus to love oneself is to love accurate perception, discernment of real value, and all that brings it.

a Need = taste

b Pride = love

a Need of not = distaste

b Pride of not = hate

a Lack = sensual fulfillment

b Surplus = sensual act

c Wisdom = to separate what is sought from what is not sought
