Imagine you're looking at your device screen (phone, whatever) and reading a page on it. You don't need to swipe down or across, since he page is tracking your eye movements and automatically shifts as you near the end of a section or page. Then you realize you want to copy a line of text, so you blink three times in definite succession, one two three. Immediately the border colors on the page change subtly, indicating "capture mode" has been activated, and now you look at the first word of the line you want and blink once. The word highlights, and now you move your eyes to look at the last word of the line and blink again, now the whole line is highlighted. You look at the general center of the highlighted sentence and blink once slowly, about half-speed, and the text is copied to the clipboard.

You look down off the screen, about an inch below the screen end, and hold your gaze there for about a second. The browser now minimizes and brings you back to the home screen. Your eyes fix on the file or app you want to open, with each file or app lighting up as your eyes pass over it. You find the one you want and blink deliberately, it opens. Happens to be a Word doc, you fix your gaze on the top line for a second without moving your eyes, and a pop-up menu appears. Blink on "paste" and your line is pasted into the document. (In fact the newest OS update gets rid of a lot of the blink-nav, replacing it with simple look-nav so your eyes can get a little more rest.. Just hold your gaze on something for about a second and it selects, assuming you've activated capture mode of course).

Look back below the screen again and return to home page. Find the browser icon, select again, it opens back to where you were reading.

Blinking three times again disengages capture mode so you can resume reading and blinking as normal. But the page still moves automatically as you read. Sometimes an ad appears on an edge of the display, you can eye-blink it to select the ad but you need to physically tap it to remove it. The ads are usually not for products but are for further information on what you're reading, and links to discussion groups, websites or organizations that are similar. Your phone is free but you know you need to select at least 10 ad-links a week otherwise you'll be charged an "inactivity fee".

---

Later you're watching a video, no need for headphones since the audio is directional sound-streamed into your ears only, and your friendly Mind-Emulator "Eva" appears, overlayed as a hologram a few centimeters above the screen. Eva suggests this video be catalogued in your Mind, due to similarities to other videos you've watched. No need to pause the video, you can keep watching while you also subtly notice the faint hologram overlay deepen and move inwardly, opening up to a vast space, like a universe. There are many stars in this universe, the view zooms up to one of them and it reveals to be a cloud-constellation of many pinpoints of light. Each one reveals an image upon moving a little closer, a frame from other videos, websites, words, or photos, etc. An image consisting of a frame from the present video you're watching is added next to a few other images, and thin lines of color connect them into a web. The various colors and strengths of the lines indicate relationships between the Mind-contents, but you're not interested in that now. You simply make a note of whereabouts in your personal digital mental universe the video was catalogued.

The view in the universe retreats back into a vast universe of stars, you can even see the distant spirals of other galaxies (mind-universes of friends and family members you're linked to) off in the distance. You ignore all that and just keep watching the video, after a moment the hologram vanishes.

Later out with friends at the bar, hanging out. Each of you has your slim-tech bracelet (custom colors and style of course) that comes free with your phone. The bracelets glow slightly, a warm comforting glow. If you try you can almost see the faint lines of color coming up from each person's bracelet and to their eyes, although the newest models have gotten really good about making those things invisible now.

As you talk the bottom-right edges of your vision fade and move subtly with colors, images or words -- Eva is available in case you need to access anything from your Mind, or for that matter if you need to jump online or inline to find or give something (inline is the local internet sub-group that consists of others you're space-connected with, in this case to your friends you're hanging out with; inline automatically manages connections but Eva already knows which new ones you want to accept and which you'd deny). Your friend slides over a page and it pops up down in your window, a small hand-gesture (don't want to break eye contract since your in conversation, of course) and the window adds to your inline pending. Eva kindly links it to other contents in Mind, since she already processed it to several layers of meaning the moment your friend slid it over.

"Cool I'll check it out later, thanks," you say.
"No problem," your friend replies.

You finish your drink and a small beer icon floats up at the bottom right edge of your vision. It had been getting slightly larger and brighter the more you got closer to finishing your glass. You decide to blink-select and order another (since obviously you're inlined to the bar service network). A hot waitress comes over with your drink and hands it to you, smiling at you - you're glad this bar has resisted getting Serve-bots now so common, since despite the slightly higher cost of food and drinks  here you welcome the human to human contact. And besides, fuck robots anyway, right.

Smart tech politics has awakened to the fact that we can thrive on limitations only, philosophers only can be awakened to the fact that we can choose and change our limitations based on knowledge of the power of them.

Great subtle science fiction writing. Could be a novel, or short stories in that.

Scifi, I realize again just watching Terminator 5, is the best way to bring across moral questions, as it deals with our actual expectations.
