'Mortal as I am, I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the earth.'
I saw some news coming in on an early oscar win which told me it was tonight, i used to be excited when it came on in the early 90's. Now I obviously went on with my business. Later I clicked the news again and saw what happened at the end, so beautiful.
Gold at the end when Kimmel tries to regroup and says that the good news is that this is just an award show. You can hear the outrage in the audience. Oscars downgraded to zero.
Good movie by the way, the one that actually won. In fact the first film about gayness I watched that was entirely tasteful and honorable.
So Hollywood itself isn't all that wobbly really. I also had the pleasure of watching The Martian, powerful space comedy. Ultimately it felt like that, because the comedic moments are where Damon stands out, and it's his solo show. That man can really carry an arc. I've always admired his cold brutality in the Bourne movies. The scene where he neutralizes some swiss police in a nightly park is a first rate classic act-breaker.
What's wobbly is the politics of the actors and some of the more obsessive directors. Actors are on the whole morons when it comes to anything consistent, they need to be schizoid and constantly flattering and prancy before themselves. Directors are at the end of their careers philosophers, either failed and crumbled and honest in that or gods.
