| People suck. They are so unbelievably insufferably stupid that I cannot even deal with it, let alone approach this fact. (Present company excluded of course)
No wonder God left. | |

| Could it be that you are taking life a little bit too seriously?
Nietzsche told us:
Insanity in individuals is something rare - but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule.
It's true, you know.

| I was taking about individuals.
Nietzsche was wrong there. 99% of individuals are deeply, incurably insane.

| It's when you get people as individuals, by themselves, with nothing to distract them, that you see how insane they are.
A person's personality is only a thin mask over an abyss of insanity. A mask over... nothing.
Case in point, from a conversation I was having with someone online, which was going well for a few minutes and I was starting to think I had actually found a human being, until
You: In order to access something you first need to have the ability to access it. Stranger: That's an empty tautology. You: No it isn't. We're talking about meaning and facts, and logic and mathematical truths; in order for us to know these things, to access these realms of truths, we need to be able to access them. You should be asking "what does it mean to be able to access them?" Stranger: That's like saying something is red because it has the property of redness. You: No, that's not at all what I am saying. Stranger: it's meaningless. Like A=A. You: If you gain access to a house with locked doors, that means you had the ability to access it (had a key, for example). Without that ability you don't access it. Stranger: lol, that's stupid, you're just making things up. Stranger: making assertions without any proof (You have disconnected)

| Yep, the two of you were disconnected.
Some people can't see any deeper than the surface.
But at least you discovered that you can speak only surface appearance with that person.
You have learned. That is always good.

| There's only one way to cope when the fact of the stupidity of people becomes too much to bear: whiskey, cigarettes, and Deadwood clips. | |

| Me: facts are still the case even if no minds exist to know those facts. This cup here on my desk is still there even if no one knows it. Likewise 2+2=4 even if no sentient beings exist anywhere in the universe. Retard: you haven't proven than, only asserted it. Me: how the fuck should I "prove" that to you? Want me to open my brain and somehow show you an empirical step by step? Why not think for yourself? Come to a conclusion one way or another about it and then argue and examine that conclusion. Retard: if facts aren't in minds that is externalism, which is materialism. Me: I don't have one fucking clue what the fuck that is even supposed to mean. Retard: you can't prove that facts are independent of minds. Nothing is independent of the mind, cause you can't prove it exists without having a mind. Me: go fuck a hole in the ground, you worthless piece of shit. | |

| You can't ask "external or internal?" about something like a fact or an idea. There is no categorical equivalence there. Might as well ask what color 2+2=4 is or where it is spatially temporally located with respect to 3+3=6. Fuck these idiots. | |

| Well, what can I say?
Sounds like your friends enjoys using circular logic.
Facts are facts, that is, objective reality exists regardless of how the human mind understands it.
I never let those kinds of folks get me emotionally involved in "reality" type discussions.
I am a materialist. And I don't have any imaginary friends so I guess I talk with real people.
Sounds like your friend was just trying to pull your chain. Seems you allowed it to happen. Oh well.

| To say that people are insane is to look at the glass half empty. I believe most people are sane; my glass is half full. We are both seeing the same glass through different perspectives.
To name call others, such as in saying they are insane, is to show your frustration and inability to hold a logical argument.

To name call others, such as in saying they are insane, is to show your frustration and inability to hold a logical argument. Reminded me of a short story: There was a group of Buddhists gathered around a table arguing whether the glass on the table was half full or half empty. A Taoist Sage comes wandering along, she is thirsty, stops at the table, picks up the glass, drinks the water, sits the glass back down and wanders off. Yes, name calling means the discussion has already gone personal. Might as well stop talking as nothing useful will follow. But really, there are some crazy people out there!
