Thanksgiving is mine too. Lots of food and I like the Fall of the year. The rest of the holidays are pains in the ass.

We had festivals in OH where I used to live.  They were Polish, Hungarian, and German.  It was occasion to get drunk, eat sausages and funnel cake.  Not much was educational about it unless one drank too much, then he received a good lesson.

The problem is that no one really identifies as anything since we're all mixed up.  There is no one who is all German or Polish or Dutch and seemingly everyone has some Irish in him (The Mc's really got around).  Lots of people claim to have Native American even when they don't simply because they think it's cool to boast about it.

I don't particularly care for the Natives since I've read too much about them and have met a few, but most Americans see them as proud, noble, strong people who were victimized by the white man.  I don't want to speak ill of anyone, but the worst enemy I could imagine is an Irish Native mix.  That's the pitbull terrier of the humans.  Not in terms of strength, but meanness.  Note Conor McGregor but with a grudge.

America really is the melting pot and that's why not much attention is given to heritage.  So I suppose it's predictable to project that view onto Europe with the assumption that all Europeans are basically the same, like Americans.
