'Mortal as I am, I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the earth.'
O I must have watched that in some state before, I thought he actually got propelled by the blast.
Anyway the guy that directed this, JJ Abrams, does give off the ooze of privilege.

He liked that they started in Rome and ended in Shanghai. Doing stunts and investing tens of millions (hundreds?) in stunts and fancy camerawork and military style fun.
Does the movie matter?

I do like MI3 and I prefer his Star Wars over all the other non originals.
Star War episode IV came out in my birth year, I feel like no one can tel me what is Star Wars and what is not, I certainly watched the originals enough dozens of times and had enough box sets with documentaries and school reports on it to count myself a proper fan. To me all the peripheral fiction is trash, I only count the first three films as a criterion, and I know exactly how the script came to be, how the crew was brought to gather, who Stan Winston is, how C3PO and R2D2 were conceived and built and manned, how the struggle for finances went, how the primer inJapan shocked everybody, I know more about the Star Wars franchises roots than any other fan Im sure - I know its soul. And I say Abrahams did a very good job at dragging the franchise away from the fantasy and into the innocent action movie realm where it belongs.

Also I'm sure MI3 is one of the best ever big budget action flicks. Couldn't help but be. Just not up my alley.
