Miles has something of both Schopie and Nietzsche. I think he was Shcopenhauer as a man and Nietzsche on the trumpet.

Its completely insane how he gets the most subtle tones of musical history out of the roughest, most resistant  instrument there is.

Im a good saxophonist even though I didn't know what Im doing musically, I control the sound and a sax controls the sound completely. But a trumpet, that is more the sort of craft of sculpting from marble.
With the sax its hard to go wrong. With the trumpet, when you're in the subtle zone, its nearly impossible not to go wrong. And thats that glide, that depth, the smooth. Avoiding the almost inevitable. Strolling along the abyss.
