Which is the reason Nietzsche never speaks of his contemporaries holding the powers of his own country, which were rather significant to the coming century of war.

Bismarck was Nietzsche's contemporary, and it is evident how much respect N has for him if you read between the lines -
He was himself from Prussia as well.

Not much is spoken of this tie, weirdly. It seems far more important than his relation to Wagner.

Yes, I did notice the respect N had for Bismarck.  (I am Prussian on my mother's side (Yunker).)

And I agree, his link with Wagner was only via the arts.  When Wagner became openly anti-Semitic the link was broken.

I can't recall N ever being negative toward Bismarck or the trend of the government.

"The left wing government in Berlin is planning to roll out a citywide ban on “sexist” billboards, prohibiting firms from portraying women as “nurturing” or happy to do housework.
A pilot implementation of the ban on adverts deemed “degrading” towards women has been tested since 2014 in the Kreuzberg-Friedrichshain district of Berlin, where politicians plan to mainstream the policy.

Der Tagesspiegel reports the German capital’s governing coalition of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), the Greens, and the Left party is setting up a committee to decide on whether or not potential adverts “degrade people on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, or sexual identity”.

A long list of criteria lays out material the leftist parties deem unacceptable such as adverts which portray women as being “sexual commodities”. Guidelines stating adverts in which female models are “barely dressed and smiling without reason while a man is comfortably clothed” are deemed to send out a message that “the sexes are not equal”.

The ban will also put a stop to billboards the jury believes would reinforce stereotypes. These include depictions of women as “nurturing, happy to do housework, beautiful, addicted to shopping” or men as “rational, aggressive, technologically gifted”, according to official documents concerning the ban.

Advertisements featuring children will also be affected by the crackdown on the “standardisation of gender roles”, the guidelines asserting that boys have been “stereotyped” as “liking sports, the colour blue, and playing with technology”.

The Berlin government’s plans have been slammed by the centre right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party who argued “politicians have no right to interfere with the free market”. Whilst the classic liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) said advertising campaigns should be “protected by the freedom of expression we are granted as fundamental rights”.

“When girls and women see images of heterosexual housewives, the consequence is that they cannot ‘imagine themselves outside this framework’,” the Kreuzberg-Friedrichshain district office’s homepage reads.

Der Tagesspiegel columnist Harald Martenstein said the policy “could have been adopted from the Taliban manifesto”, and expressed “particular surprise” at the ban on billboards showing housewives.

“Girls are not stupid,” he wrote, describing the district’s assertion as “complete nonsense”."

"BERLIN (AP) — German authorities are taking action against 36 people suspected of posting hate speech online, most of them accused of far-right incitement.
The Federal Criminal Police Office said police across the country searched homes of suspects, questioned them and took unspecified “further measures” early Tuesday. There was no word of any arrests.

The so-called “day of action against hate postings” followed a similar exercise last year. The police office said most of the postings targeted Tuesday had a far-right motivation, but authorities also targeted a suspected anti-government extremist, two far-left suspects and one case where the victim’s sexual orientation was attacked.

In April, the Cabinet approved a bill to punish social networking sites if they fail to swiftly remove illegal content such as hate speech. Parliament has yet to approve it."

Here is the difference between the United States and Europe:

US:

"The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday in favor of an Asian-American band from Portland, The Slants, in a trademark dispute with the federal Patent and Trademark Office. The ruling ends an eight-year legal battle and means the band’s founder, Samuel Tam, can register the name, which the government contends is an ethnic slur, as a trademark.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office fought the band’s application, citing a 70-year-old statute — section 2A of the Lanham Act — that has guided policy on potentially-offensive business and product names. The government argued the band still has legal avenues for defending its brand without the trademark.

But in his decision, Justice Samuel Alito ruled against the PTO’s interpretation of the statute, writing, “The disparagement clause violates the First Amendment’s Free Speech Clause. Contrary to the Government’s contention, trademarks are private, not government speech.”
The ruling was unanimous. Court watchers were not surprised to see conservative voices on the court, including Clarence Thomas and Chief Justice John Roberts, side with the band.

But a block of justices, including Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor also agreed to some parts of the decision, finding, in the words of the court, “To permit viewpoint discrimination in this context is to permit Government censorship.”

Ronald Coleman is a partner at Archer and Greiner, the law firm that represented the band before the Supreme Court. Coleman and his team argued anything less than full trademark protection would shortchange the band’s rights.

“If I said, no one is allowed to burglarize homes. Every home has the law behind it. But we’re going to allow certain people to lock the door. And … other people whose point of views we don’t like … we’re not going to give them door-locking privileges. That’s a burden. And that’s what’s prohibited by the Constitution,” Coleman said." http://www.opb.org/news/article/us-supreme-court-the-slants-trademark-washington-redskins/

Europe:

"Dutch prosecutors are investigating populist firebrand politician Geert Wilders over an anti-Islamisation speech he made in Austria in 2015, for potential charges of incitement.
Two years ago, Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV) leader Geert Wilders was invited by the anti-mass migration Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) to speak on the subject of Islamisation. Wilders told the crowd “Islam calls on people to become terrorists — the Koran leaves no doubt about it,” and continued: “Islam is an ideology of war and hatred.”

Shortly after, complaints about the speech were made to the Austrian authorities by, among others, an Austrian Muslim Association. Although no charges were brought in Austria, the authorities there have now opted to pass the investigation on to Dutch prosecutors, Algemeen Dagblad reports.

Nina Bussek, spokesman for the Austrian Prosecutor’s Office, said “We decided not to prosecute him here but to hand over the case to our Dutch colleagues due to practical considerations.”

Dutch public prosecution service spokesman Vincent Veenman has said that it is too early to tell whether charges will be brought, but that the Dutch prosecutor is investigating the claims. If found guilty of incitement, Wilders could face potential prison time.

Mr Wilders reacted to the allegations against him saying, “I find this truly unbelievable. Let them catch bandits and terrorists instead of prosecuting a politician for speaking about Islam. It is a disgrace that this is happening in the city of Spinoza, who was not only a great defender of tolerance but also of freedom of thought and speech.”

He continued: “It is a legal jihad. While the elites are to blame for the existential crisis we are currently in, with their open border-policies and unprecedented love for Islam and their cultural relativism, they sell us out completely and put our freedom and security at stake.

“They have abandoned the legacy of Spinoza and introduced the totalitarianism of Mohammedanism in our nations. I say: no more. It is time to do our duty and defend our freedom and the freedom of our children.”

Wilders has already faced court this year, over remarks he had made about Moroccans in the Netherlands in 2014. Wilders was found guilty of incitement and sentenced to a fine of 5,000 euros. In 2011 he was also charged, though acquitted, of incitement after he compared the Quran to Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf.

Despite the government pressure, Wilder’s PVV came second in the Dutch national elections earlier this year, being one of the few parties to gain more seats. As the coalition talks continue to stumble, the PVV may have a chance to either enter government or gain more seats if a new election has to be called." http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/06/03/geert-wilders-investigation-austrian-speech-2015/

Fucked up situation. Even now, if the West would leave the Middle East the terrorism would continue.
