I think that the places Ive enjoyed most on my travels are the places that will thrive. Places beyond the idea that a nation could be in real trouble, where fear is not the dominant factor despite numerous serious threats constantly on the prowl, where trust in resilience has become habit; fundamentally, where the houses are most satisfying, most built for permanent earth-gods, rather than passers by; when there is too much shining, the inhabitants are mere ghosts to the earth.
Earth absorbs light, is eroded by it. A reflective surface on the other hand is trustworthy in that it always deceives.
Harsh lessons to learn about power. It can't be given, it must be taken.
